I never even thought about that. I think that although the franchise is gone, should they ever get another one, Payton’s jersey should definitely be retired in Seattle, the city he sent his great years in. And although it may be a different franchise, Seattle does still have the rights to the team name and colors should they ever get another team.

Yeah, in a perfect world GP should have his jersey retired in Seattle, if they can have another franchise one of these days.
Otherwise, yeah I’m afraid Oklahoma will be the only solution! A bad one, though… And I can guarantee ya that GP already said that there’s no way his jersey could be retired in Oklahoma…

Yeah, I was just kidding about that post. They should never retire his jersey in OKlahoma City unless maybe Seattle never gets a team. I think Gary has too wait. And once Seattle gets another team whether expanison or another team moves here. Then he can go back to Seattle and then they can retire his jersey in Seattle colors green and yellow. They will probably retire Kemps jersey too in Seattle. But if Seattle never gets a team I think it would be only right they do retire Payton’s jersey in Oklahoma. Though it should be in Seattle colors not Oklahoma city colors. Gary barely played for the bucks, lakers, celtics, heat to have his jersey retired there. After all, its only right I think George Mikan retired his jersey in LA though he played in Minnesota. So I think it doesn’t matter if your team moved you still have ties to your team.

For Oklahoma City, it doesn’t sound like a good idea to me, plus it seems to me that Payton himself alreaday said that he doesn’t want his jersey to be retired in Oklahoma…
Gary played only 28 games with the Bucks, that being said he was still in his prime at the time, so why not.
As for Shawn Kemp, no his jersey is still not retired. Kemp would deserve that. But I think he’s overwhelmed by his personals problems.

They can always give Gary a new Oklahoma city jersey with his name and number #20 on it and then retire it. But I put Gary would prefer his jersey with the bucks. Hey, Shawn Kemp retire his jersey yet?
